Thousands of ecstasy pills seized in Pembroke

The police found around 18,000 ecstasy pills hidden in a box in the vicinity of Luxol Grounds in Pembroke, yesterday.

Provisional reports said the police found the pills after a man who was going to be arrested crashed his car into a police vehicle and escaped on Monday. A number of gunshots were fired but luckily there were no casualties. The police managed to apprehend another person during the ordeal.

Further investigations into the case led to the major drug haul, yesterday, where around 18,000 pills were found. The driver who escaped from the police on Monday, was yesterday found, police said.

The Duty Magistrate was informed of the case. The persons involved are expected to be charged in court in the coming days.
