A walk in the countryside will be organised by the International Tree Foundation (Malta) as a tribute to National Arbor Day 2010, on Saturday, January 16, 2010.
Chairman Dr Joseph Borg mapped a circular route which will not take more than 2 hours of leisurely walking along country roads, directed to Wied is-Sewda. This valley runs from Attard to Qormi.
Weather permitting the meeting place will be the Attard Cemetery which is on the main road to Rabat at 1400h.
Cars can be parked in a nearby street off the main road whilst bus no 80, 81 or 84 stop at the bus stop just across the road from the Cemetery.
The walk will proceed alongside water-filled impoundments, irrigated fields, specimen of common trees, a 17th Century Qormi chapel, a defunct shooting club and a pump room of Chadwick fame.
It will end at the same spot of start off.
The walk is open to members of the International Tree Foundation and the general public alike.
Interested persons are asked to call on 7970 2757 should the weather by dicey.
