A cigarette smoked in a Paceville establishment last weekend led to 2 cousins ending up in Court after they started an argument with police.
In the early hours of Sunday, police officers spotted a woman smoking a cigarette at an establishment in Dragonara Road, and asked her to follow her outside.

After some time, Mr Karl Attard followed them outside, as the police officers were interrogated. An argument soon broke out, leading to the couple’s arrest.

Later on Mr Attard’s cousin, Rudi Agius, intervened, leading to a further argument in which he kicked the police car and broke the mirror.

The 2 men, both 24-year-old Mosta residents, admitted to the argument, to disobeying police orders, preventing them from carrying out their duties and to the damage caused. They were both conditionally discharged for 1 year by Magistrate Joseph Apap Bologna.

Lawyer Roberto Montalto appeared for Mr Agius while lawyer Manwel Mallia appeared for Mr Attard. Inspectors Nikolai Sant and Trevor Micallef prosecuted.
