The Malta Indipendent online
09 March 2010
Everyone joined yesterday to mark International Women’s Day, with the Nationalist Party saying the day is a symbolic gesture to the important role woman has in Maltese society. “Every day is Women’s Day” the PN said grandiously, adding that women in Malta and Gozo were contributing usefully to economic and social life in different roles.
Women in Malta had made huge advances over the years, all due to their skills. Politicians, the PN added, had contributed in helping women in their achievements and in government the PN had worked to advance women in society.
In government the PN legislated to help women who are victims of domestic violence and remained committed to enact stronger legislation against physical and moral violence.
The PN also referred to income tax incentives brought in over the past two years to help women, and said it remained committed in government to implement policies to help women balance their career and roles in the family and society.
